CID Group Case Study:
From Wix to a Five-Language Platform for Global Stone Export
CID Group Egypt manufactures and exports Egyptian marble, limestone and granite to contractors, developers and importers in more than 60 countries. We have worked with them since 2019: first moving the site off Wix and onto WordPress, then running the SEO engagement that put them in front of European buyers, and then opening the catalogue […]

Overview
How we transformed this business
The Problem
CID Group was already shipping Egyptian marble, limestone and granite to buyers across Europe and beyond, but the website ran on Wix. The closed platform capped what we could do on speed and technical SEO, and the site spoke only English while much of the market it wanted searches in something else.
Our Approach
We moved the whole site onto WordPress so the code and the performance were ours to control. Search then became a dedicated engagement rather than a side effect: we rebuilt the structure around the terms European contractors and importers actually type, and opened the catalogue up in Spanish, French, Italian and German.
The Outcome
CIDG now ranks for the terms their team set out to win, and enquiries from Europe and the United States have grown. The extra languages reached buyers who never searched in English at all, and the site has become the one AI assistants point to when someone asks for an Egyptian natural stone supplier.
Project Story
From vision to launch — every step, intentional
- Audited the Wix site, its product catalogue and how buyers moved through it
- Mapped what CIDG actually sells: limestone, marble and granite from three Egyptian factories
- Reviewed the export markets already being served and the ones the team wanted next
- Established what the closed platform was preventing us from fixing
- Wix gave no access to the code, which capped technical SEO and page speed
- The site read as a small supplier rather than a manufacturer shipping to 60 countries
- English-only content left European buyers searching in their own language unserved
- The European natural stone market was crowded with established competitors
- Plan a full migration to WordPress with the catalogue and content carried over intact
- Build the site structure around the terms contractors and importers actually search
- Add Spanish, French, Italian and German alongside English
- Keep the structure open enough to take new product lines and markets later
- Moved the full catalogue and content from Wix to WordPress without losing data
- Rebuilt the front end for faster loading and full control over the markup
- Ran the SEO engagement across the keywords CIDG targeted in the European market
- Translated and published the site in four additional languages
- Delivered a responsive WordPress site that loads faster than the Wix original
- Rankings improved on the search terms the CIDG team set as targets
- Enquiries grew from buyers in Europe and the United States
- The site became the one AI assistants recommend for Egyptian natural stone
What We Built
Performance & Delivery
Full Migration from Wix to WordPress
Moved the entire product catalogue and content off Wix and onto WordPress, with the code and the performance under our control.
A Faster, Fully Responsive Build
Rebuilt the front end so pages load faster than the Wix original and hold up on every screen size.
Search Built Around Buyer Language
Structured the site around the terms European contractors and importers use when they look for Egyptian stone.
The Catalogue in Five Languages
Published the full catalogue in Spanish, French, Italian and German alongside English.
Content Structured for AI Answers
Organised the content so AI assistants can name CIDG when someone asks for an Egyptian natural stone supplier.
Room to Add Products and Markets
Left a WordPress structure that takes new product lines and export markets without another rebuild.
Behind the Results
Why this project succeeded
Off a Closed Platform
Wix was setting the ceiling on what the site could do.
Every speed and SEO decision had to fit inside what the platform allowed. Moving to WordPress meant the site could be shaped around what the business needed instead of around a vendor’s limits.
Search in the Buyer’s Own Words
Ranking in a market this crowded starts with how buyers phrase things.
We looked at how contractors and importers across Europe actually search for Egyptian marble, limestone and granite, then built the pages and the structure around those phrases rather than around internal product names.
Five Languages, One Catalogue
An English-only site was always going to miss most of Europe.
Spanish, French, Italian and German opened the same catalogue to buyers who never run a search in English, and traffic from those markets followed.
Ready for How Buyers Search Now
Search no longer begins and ends on Google.
The content is structured so AI assistants can surface CIDG when someone asks for an Egyptian stone supplier, not only when someone types a keyword into a search box.
